I began my career at Westinghouse as a Graphic Designer tasked with more basic and straightforward creation of marketing collateral. When we discovered the need to scale our website to fit our year-over-year growth, I led the efforts in designing a custom website template for Shopify that could scale with our business expansion.

Built for the purpose of funneling eCommerce to product vendors, this website now offers a complete update to the pre-existing corporate Westinghouse Outdoor Power website. The six month project was completed and launched in Feb. 2020, and is currently active as of 2024.

Improvements

Once the site was launched, we began gathering data on customer behavior on the website. This drove the need for creation of specific components to test and implement on the website. Components created served customer groups at differing levels of the conversion funnel; upper and lower funnel. Below is an example of an upper-funnel interactive header for delivering information about newly launched cordless lawn & garden tools. Here are the initial design solutions I created to begin my process:

Finally, here is the final implemented solution. We moved towards the option above that included an interactive heat map showing where each tool can be used around the house. I moved the tool description to the right side as to prevent any disconnect from the house lifestyle image and the tool section. The heat map selection dots draw a line directly to the description section. The gray bar at the top connects the image and description, while providing an overview of the entire 20V+ tool line.
